Abstract

This study aims to explain the representation of the homosexual phenomenon in society and attitudes given by the society. The subject of this research comes from a film called Love, Simon. This research was conducted in Bekasi and also in the STBAJIA library located in Bekasi City. The writer used descriptive qualitative research methods. This study uses a combination of homosexual theories from Soekanto, Kartono, and Siahaan, and also uses the sociology of literature theory to explain the attitude of the people around Simon Spier is a reflection of the real life of society. The results of this study indicate that the homosexual character in this film displays a normal homosexual, displays a tendency to be accepted by society, and also the character in this film gets a good place, and gets a lot of support and love from the people around him when he finds out that he is a homosexual. While only a small number of them reject their identity as homosexuals. Responding to the issue of homosexuality, the public is advised to act more wisely. In conducting research, it is recommended to examine the theory of homosexuality and the sociology of literature in depth.
