Abstract

This study is aimed to find out and analyze the communicative translation method that focuses on the interrogative sentence. The researcher takes 30 data from the novel Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and its translation. This researcher uses the theory of communicative translation method from Peter Newmark (1988). The method of the research is qualitative research. The result of the data based on the researcher analysis, it is found that the translator pays attention to the context of the source language to deliver the message in the target language. In addition, the types of interrogative sentence which use communicative translation method are 13 data (43,3%) to yes-no questions, 13 data (43,3%) to wh-questions, 2 data (6,7%) to declarative questions, 0 data (0%) to alternative question, 2 data (6,7%) to tag questions, and 0 data (0%) to rhetorical question. The researcher hopes that this research can be useful to the readers
