Abstract
The aims of this study are: 1) to comprehend the characteristics of humanism in the main character and 2) to analyze how Leo Demidov as a police agent describes the action of humanism. The data objects used in this study were 20 data in the form of visual data taken from scenes and verbal data in the form of dialogues of Leo Demidov's character in the film Child 44. In this study, the writer used qualitative methods. The results showed: 1) there are 4 characteristics of humanism that exist in Leo Demidov, namely wisdom which consists of 4 data, human behavior which consists of 8 data, morality which consists of 5 data, and freedom which consists of 3 data. In this study, the writer uses the theories proposed by Richard Norman (2004) and Robin Headlam Wells (2006) and 2) the character of wisdom shown by Leo is how he gives wise advice, judges fairly. Leo demonstrates the character of human nature by revealing through liberal knowledge, the general state of human nature, behavior of gentleness and recognition his mistakes in the past. Leo describes his morality as being sympathetic, Vasili, upholding justice, and wanting no victims in his mission, has killed caring for children whose parents. Leo's freedom is shown when he escaped from the shelter and expressed his opinions and desires.
