Abstract
The aim of this research is to find the types of slang word used in Justin Bieber song lyrics and to identify the meaning of slang words. To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher uses Elisa Mattiello’s theory of slang word to analyzing the data. This study is a qualitative which the researcher collected the data by listening to the song and observing the words that contain the types of slang in Justin Bieber song lyrics, searching for the definition of data needed in dictionaries. Based on the selected data, the result of study showed that the types of slang words found in Justin Bieber song lyrics are 1 compounding, 1 conversion, 1 acronym, 7 blending, 13 clipping, and 3-word manufacture. It can be concluded that the frequent type of slang is clipping because this type of slang is commonly use in daily informal conversation and appropriate to be used by any age.
