Abstract

The purposes of this research is to find the sentence, purpose and reason why Tony Stark expressed the sarcasm that was taken from the Iron Man movie, to identify and distinguish which sentences are included in sarcasm, and to distinguish the reaction of the interlocutor from Tony Stark who can accept or not the sarcasm sentence. This is a qualitative research. This research method uses Haiman's theory taken from a book entitled Talk is Cheap. According to the data that has been analyzed, the research concludes that the sarcasm that Tony Stark says is always for a reason and not all the interlocutors can accept the sarcasm depending on the timing and situation.
