Abstract
This study aims to find out the translation methods that occur in a relative clause contained in John Green novel, the novel ‘Turtle All The Way Down’ as an English version into the translation novel “Turtle All The Way Down” translated by Prisca Primasari as the Indonesian version. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The writer acts as an instrument in this study which is supported by various kinds of books on translation theories, several relative clause theories, and dictionaries used to analyze the meaning of several words, as well as several supporting websites source. The writer use translation methods by Newmark and classifying the types of translation method. This research only focuses in relative clause in the novel. The result of this research can shows thirty on data of translation method including 9 data of the literal translation (30%), 1 data of faithful translation ( 3%), and 1 data of semantic translation (3%), 4 data of free translation (14%), 1 data of idiomatic translation (3%), and 14 data of communicative translation (47%). The results of this analysis show that the communicative translation is the most widely used methods in the translation novel by Prisca Primasari.
