Abstract

This study is aimed to explain the intended meaning by the speaker to the interlocutor and caused the perlocutionary effect that appears from the speaker’s utterance of the speech act. The object of the research is speech acts and the data source is taken from The Lion King (1994) movie manuscript wrote on August 20, 1993. The research uses a descriptive analysis qualitative research. The main theory of this speech act research is theory of O’Keeffe et. all (2011) and for the supporing theory are from Yule (1996), and Leech (1989). The data from this research are twenty-two, which include ten data of directives illocutionary act that the most appeared in this research, five data of representatives and expressives illocutionary act for each, and one data of commisives and declarations illocutionary act. The prosess of analysis the data is: (1) preparing the data, (2) analyzing the data, (3) classifying the data, (4) discussing the data, and (5) concluding the data
