Abstract

This paper is aimed for knowing restrictive and non-restrictive appositive in sentences structure used in ‘Black Beauty’ novel. Data source in the research is from a novel written by an English author, Anne Sewell entitled ‘Black Beauty’. The implementation of the research is conducted from March 15th 2020 to August 14th 2020. The method of the research is using qualitative method which emphasizes in finding and analyzing the application of restrictive and nonrestrictive appositive in the novel. After finding the data in the novel, whole data are analyzed using collecting and interpreting the usage of appositives in the sentences. The result shows forty-five data that have appositives in the novel with details; twenty-three restrictive appositives and twenty-two non-restrictive appositives found.
