Abstract
This study aims to find the type and analyze the kind of intransitive verb used on travel columns of the Jakarta Post. The theory used to analyze data is the theory of Downing and Locke (2016) about the intransitive verb. In addition to this theory, the theory of the Burton (2016) about analyze with tree diagram.The collected data were analyzed using qualitative methods. There are tree kind of intransitive verb that found, There are 5 kinds of intransitive verb included verb of behavior which was applied 3 cases (12%) , verb of weather which was applied 0 cases (0%), verb of occurance which was applied 11 cases (44%) , verb of location of place or time which was applied 7 cases (28%) and verb of movement + manner of movement which was applied 24 cases (16%). The choice to apply this particular kind of intransitive verb is based on the aspect of the reader where the focus is on the target readers who are people with a variety of backgrounds.
