Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explain what lexeme, its parts, meaning, and letter totals of a transitive verb in A Cosmopolite in A Café short story by O’Henry. The method is used in the research is qualitative method. This research has been done from the beginning of March 2020 to the end of August 2020. The object data of this research are 21 data taken from A Cosmopolite in A Café short story by O’Henry. After the data is collected then the data is analyzed and created a table to find out the result of analyzing. From the analysis it can be concluded that there are found 13 monotransitive verbs 5 ditransitive verbs 3 complex transitive verbs. It means the most lexemes in transitive verb found in the short story are monotransitive verb.
