Abstract

This aim of this research is to explain the utterance that has effect of perlocutionary act. The source data of this research is Maleficent 1 movie by Robert Stromberg. The method use in this research is descriptive qualitative. For the theory, the writer use Austin’s theory (1962) to describe and analyze the form and function of perlocutionary.Total data in this research is thirty five, they are twenty data of convincing, eight data of persuading, three data of deceiving, two data of intimidating, one data of impressing and one data of irritating. The research steps include : (1) download the movie, (2) watching a movie, (3) looking for the types of perlocutionary act, (4) determining the type of perlocutionary act in the movie, (5) analysing the types of perloctionary found, and (6) giving conclusions on the results of the analysis. The result of the paper shows that there are convincing (57%), persuading (22%), deceiving (9%), intimidating (6%), impressing (3%) and irritating (3%).
